SALMOND WELCOMES STANDARDS COMMITTEE’S VERDICT ON LABOUR MSP JAMES KELLY
Alex Salmond MSP (Aberdeenshire East) has welcomed the Standard Committee’s verdict on Labour MSP James Kelly.
The MSP for Rutherglen has been found in breach of Holyrood's Code of Conduct.
In an interview with Bauer radio (to be broadcast tomorrow), Mr Salmond said:
“I hope this unanimous condemnation by the Standards Committee finally teaches Mr Kelly a lesson. The Standard’s rules of the Scottish Parliament are a serious matter; they are not there to be abused by people as a part of a political game.
“In particular, to launch a silly complaint and then publish it in flagrant breach of the rules is a pathetic attack on a fellow MSP. It is the act of a parliamentary midge, not a serious politician.
“Now Mr Kelly finds himself caught by the very rules he vainly tried to use against me. He is hoist with his own petard.”
