Alex Salmond MP MSP attended the 151st Turriff Show yesterday (Monday 3rd August 2015). Upon arrival, Mr Salmond received a tour of the showground from the show’s president, Mr Barclay Mair. He also had the honour of announcing the runner-up of this year’s champion of champions – which was Her Majesty the Queen’s very own Highland cow - Connachat 90th of Balmoral.

Later in the afternoon, constituents had a chance to come and speak to Mr Salmond during his specially held surgery in the SNP caravan. Mr Salmond also spent the afternoon signing copies of his bestselling book, “The Dream Shall Never Die”.

Speaking after the event, Mr Salmond said: “2015 is Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink and it was great to see the North East’s largest agricultural gala get right behind this initiative.

“From embroidered artwork to specially scented candles, the regions talent and hard work was on full show for everyone to see. Everyone left with a smile on their face, so it has been a successful day.

“It was also good to spend to the afternoon with Gillian Martin, one of our Holyrood hopefuls, speaking to local businesses.”
