ALEX SALMOND SEEKS UPDATE ON NEW INVERURIE HEALTH CENTRE

Alex Salmond MP MSP has requested an update on the proposed new Inverurie Health and Social Care Hub Centre from NHS Grampian and the Scottish Government. The replacement campus is part of a six health development projects around the country totalling £69 million which were approved in 2013[1].

Inverurie Health Centre is Scotland’s largest single practice and the development of a modern integrated campus represents a welcomed investment of £14 million in local healthcare provision.

Tomorrow (Thursday 6th August 2015), NHS Grampian board members will meet to discuss the outline for the business case of the new health centre. Construction is set to start in 2016 with an opening date set for early 2018.

Speaking about the new health centre, Mr Salmond said:

“This is an incredibly important project. Inverurie Medical Group is Scotland’s largest single practice so it is paramount that they have a centre that is fit to serve its 20,000 registered users.

“The fact that the Scottish Government is investing in a project worth £14 million to help Inverurie’s health centre represents the SNP’s commitment to the improvement of local health services.

“The current health centre in Inverurie is not fit for purpose, so it is important that we ensure that this project is completed on time and that the new centre can begin to serve those in need.”
