ALEX SALMOND WELCOMES NEW HEALTHCARE TRANSPORT HOTLINE

The Transport to Healthcare Information Centre (THInC) is a free dedicated telephone service offering travel advice to people who find it difficult travelling to and from healthcare appointments in the NHS Grampian area.

Open from 9:00 to 16:30 Monday to Friday, the service can provide details of suitable bus or train times, contact telephone numbers and other services such as local dial-a-bus or voluntary car schemes.

The centre is a joint-initiative between Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council, Moray Council, NHS Grampian, The Scottish Ambulance Service and Nestrans is a first of its kind in the UK.

MSP for Aberdeenshire East and MP for Gordon, Alex Salmond has welcomed this service saying:

“It is very important that everyone is able to attend their healthcare appointments without delay or much hassle.

“Many people living in the North East of Scotland will appreciate how difficult any mode of transport can be throughout the year, so it is essential that there is a service offering people free travel advice ensuring that everyone can arrive on time to their healthcare appointments.”
