SALMOND BRAVES GHOULS AND GHOSTIES ON TOUR OF TORRY'S DARK AND HAUNTED PAST
MP for Gordon Alex Salmond has spoken of his supernatural experience in the ruins of St Fittick's Church as the region's dark past came to life through the dynamic-live action performances and storytelling of the Hidden Aberdeen Tours' Terror Tales of Torry.
The 90 minute tour, which embarks from Torry Community Hall and concludes with an effects show inside the church is a combination of story-telling and performances by professional actors.
Tales include a harrowing account of the wreck of whaling ship, The Oscar, on Bruntscallie Rocks, a bloody relic once belonging to William Wallace and the last stand of Coventanter William Milne of Kincorth, slain at the Battle of Justice Mills.
Meeting with the cast and organisers of the walk, Mr Salmond was treated to the latter, with the performers battling through the churchyard with real swords and in full period costumes.
Mr Salmond said:
"As soon as I heard about the Terror tour of Torry, I knew I'd have to work up the courage to go along. As well as being an exciting, funny and spooky show, the tour also offers genuinely gripping tales from Torry's past, which will even surprise local people.
"It's great to see the history of the North East recognised and shared so effectively, and it is all down to the hard work of Hidden Aberdeen Tours. I'd recommend it to all, but warn the faint-hearted that the stories, dark as they are, really do come to life."
