North East farming legend Brian Pack has pledged his support to Alex Salmond’s campaign for re-election in Gordon.

Mr Pack OBE is a former Chief Executive of the ANM Group and the author of two crucial reports on Scottish agriculture.

A highly respected figure in UK agriculture and food sectors, he was a Senior Agricultural Economist with the North of Scotland College of Agriculture. Mr Pack joined Mackies, the extensive farming and ice cream business in 1984, as Managing Director.

Six years later, he joined ANM.

Awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 1999 for services to agriculture, food and marketing and a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Societies, Mr Pack is also a past director of Grampian Enterprise and is a member of Grampian Food Forum.

He commented:

“Alex has been a powerful  and strong advocate for the rural industries of Scotland. As First Minister and as an MP he  has served this area well.

"In the next few years, with so much affecting Scottish agriculture at stake in these Brexit negotiations, Scotland is going to need Alex’s voice more than ever.

"I am pleased to pledge him my support for his re-election in the Gordon constituency”.
